In a timely and thought-provoking gathering aimed at healing longstanding divisions and strengthening a shared regional identity, the Southern Kaduna Lawyers Forum (SKLF) convened a high-level roundtable bringing together stakeholders from across Southern Kaduna to deliberate on the future of the region.
Held under the theme, “Division to Cohesion: The Role of Lawyers, Leaders and Citizens in Southern Kaduna,” the event provided a platform for robust conversations on unity, peaceful coexistence, inclusive leadership, and sustainable development.
The forum, whose membership is drawn from twelve of the twenty-three Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, attracted legal practitioners, political leaders, professionals, traditional stakeholders, and community representatives committed to charting a new course for Southern Kaduna through dialogue and collective responsibility.
The event was held under the chairmanship of the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd) OFR, and featured insightful presentations and interventions from eminent personalities across government, law, religion, business, and civil society.
Among the dignitaries in attendance was the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who represented Governor Senator Uba Sani, alongside representatives of the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr James Kanyip, KSM, and several distinguished guests.
Speaking during the deliberations, participants emphasized that the future of Southern Kaduna lies not in division but in cooperation, mutual respect, and a collective commitment to advancing the common good of the people.
The gathering, held at BBS Diamond Suites, Barnawa, Kaduna, was widely commended for initiating an important and timely conversation capable of reshaping the political, social, and economic trajectory of the region.
Contributors to the discussions, including Engr Bala Zakka of SK Oil & Gas, observed that cohesion, inclusive leadership, and responsible citizenship remain critical ingredients for unlocking greater opportunities and strengthening Southern Kaduna’s voice in the broader national discourse.
In his lead presentation, Dr. James Kanyip stressed the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding, and collective action as indispensable tools for advancing the interests of the region and fostering harmony among its diverse communities.
Participants further renewed calls for stronger collaboration among lawyers, community leaders, public office holders, professionals, and citizens in building bridges of trust and creating a more prosperous and united Southern Kaduna.
As deliberations came to a close, the atmosphere was one of optimism and renewed commitment, reinforcing the belief that the journey from division to cohesion is not merely desirable, but essential for the future stability and progress of Southern Kaduna.
The forum concluded with a shared resolve to transform conversations into action and aspirations into measurable outcomes for generations to come.
